With win numbers 29 and 30 coming Saturday afternoon, Keith Gorman has coached this year's Dukes to the program's first 30 win season in the last ten years. Those two wins came behind two complete games and timely hitting. In game 1, Cody Stashak tossed his second consecutive complete game, allowing just one run over seven innings of work on the way to a 7-1 win. At the plate, freshman shortstop Anthony Lopez went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, but it was his outstanding defensive play in the second inning that brought the crowd to their feet.
In game 2, freshman Joe Palmer went the distance with the help of nine runs from his temmates and the Dukes completed the sweep with a 9-2 victory. Mr. Lopez showed up again in the second half of the double header, hitting 2 for the 3 at the plate, crossing the plate 3 times and also swiping two bags. DH Cody Stashak added 2 RBIs of his own on a 2 of 4 performance in the batters box. With just two conference games left, the Dukes are sitting at 30-12 overall and will host Union County College in a double header Sunday at 12pm.
