In a rematch of last season's Region 19 Championship, Rowan College at Gloucester County got the best of the Dukes this time, outlasting the home team by a score of 5-2. Andrew Biggs (1-1) recorded the win for RCGC and Will Latcham (1-1) was handed the loss. Latcham pitched into the six inning, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out six.
The Dukes struggled at the plate this afternoon, mustering only four hits, two off of the bat of sophomore 2B Tyler Mixon (2 for 4). The Dukes offense faltered twice with the bases loaded in the second inning and again in the eighth inning.
The Roadrunners handed Cumberland their first home loss since May 4, 2013. The Dukes went a perfect 29-0 on their home field last season. They will look to rebound this weekend as Cumberland hosts Atlantic Cape Community College in a doubleheader of Saturday and Sussex County Community College in a two-game set on Sunday. The first game on each day will begin at 12PM.
