The Dukes used a run in the seventh and two in the eighth to pull away from Rowan College at Burlington County by a score of 5-2. Sophomore Nick Caregnato picked up the win in relief, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing no hits and recording one strikeout.
The visiting Barons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning of play, then starting pitcher Raul Perez-Duran settled in. Perez-Duran allowed just two runs over 6 and 2/3s, surrendering just four hits, while striking out nine batters.
Cumberland knotted up the game at 1 in the fourth with an RBI double by John Schoelkopf that plated Walt Vickery. First baseman Chris Salvey broke the tie with an opposite field solo homerun to lead off the fifth. Salvey finished the day 2 for 5.
Freshman Dan Goggin finished 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and spohomore John Schoelkopf hit 3 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI in the leadoff spot.
