The long balls came in bunches this week for sophomore Chris Salvey on his way to being named the Player of the Week in the Garden State Athletic Conference. The Dukes first baseman stayed hot this week for the NJCAA DIII #1 ranked Dukes (40-3), hitting an unbelievable .705 for the week.
In just four games, Salvey went 12-17 at the plate, slugging four home runs, two doubles and a triple. Salvey crossed the plate 10 times and drove in a remarkable 16 runs. In a three-game series sweep of Union County College, the sophomore slugger went 10-13 with 13 RBIs, 8 runs, one double, a triple and all four of his home runs in that series.
The Dukes' Chris Salvey is arguably the hottest player in the country right now and is having himself one heck of an April. During the first 24 days of the month, Salvey is hitting .550 in 16 total games, piling up 33 total hits in 60 at-bats. Throughout April, the Dukes five-hole hitter has accumulated fifteen extra-base-hits including eight doubles and six long balls. Salvey has scored a total of 25 runs and has driven in 27 runs during that span.
