Strong Second Half Propels Dukes Past Union

Trailing 17-12 midway through the first half, the Dukes regained their composure and charged into half time with a four point lead (31-27). The home team maintained that momentum with a strong second half to secure a 77-64 win over Union County College.

A balanced offensive attack from Cumberland landed four Dukes in double-figures, led by sophomore Markevis Johnson scoring a team high 17 points.  Freshman Kyle Philo stuffed the stat sheet, recording 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals on the night.  Shaheed Black and Khaliq Ford rounded out the double-digit scorers, chipping in with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Over the last two weeks, Cumberland has put together a four-game win streak to even both their Region 19 (3-3) and Overall (4-4) records.  The Dukes will look to make it five straight this weekend when they travel to Raritan Valley CC on Saturday December 5th.
