Men's Basketball Outlasts Luzerne, Advances in Region Tournament

The Men's Basketball program recorded 90-84 win in the opening round of the Region 19 Tournament.  A total of six Dukes reached double-figures in scoring.  Freshman guard Kyle Philo led all Cumberland scores with 19 points.  Philo added 10 rebounds and 5 assists on the evening. 

Sophomore Shaheed Black finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots and Markevis Johnson knocked down 4 of 8 from beyond the arc to total 16 points. Terron Mitchel (10 points, 7 rebounds), Taj Berry-Ford (13), and Khaliq Ford (12) rounded out the Dukes in double-figures.

The win over Luzerne County CC in the opening round of the Region 19 Playoffs, marks the first home playoff win for the Cumberland Men's Basketball Program in over 10 seasons.  The Dukes not advance to play Bergen Community College in a quarterfinal match-up Tuesday night.  The game will be played at Bergen CC - 7:00 PM tip-off.
