Dukes Softball Cracks National Rankings for First Time in School History

For the first time ever, a Cumberland County College Dukes Softball team is ranked in the top ten of all NJCAA Division III colleges.  Cumberland's debut in the national rankings comes with a #5 next to their name and a 17-6 record overall through the first half of the season.

Through twenty-three total games, the Lady Dukes lead all NJCAA Division III teams in total runs scored with an astounding 248 runs scored, averaging 10.7 runs per game.  Contributing to the high total, Cumberland is sporting the nation's fourth best team batting average at .398 and is leading the nation with 121 walks on the season.

That #5 ranking will be put to the test on Thursday when the Dukes travel to Rowan College at Gloucester County, the #8 team in the country and the 2011 and 2012 national champions.  Check out the complete NJCAA Division III Softball Poll.
