After a 10-1 loss in the first game of a doubleheader with the #3 ranked team, Cumberland entered the final frame trailing 6-5 with the top of the lineup coming to the plate. Carly DiDonna started off the bottom of the seventh with groundball single up the middle and then stole second.
A Casey Kisielewski line drive single set the table for sophomore Gabrielle Castellini. In a 1-0 count and runners at second and third, Castellini launched a three-run, walk-off home run to grab the 8-6 victory over the visiting Jersey Blues. Castellini finished the game 3 for 4, with 2 runs scored and 5 runs-batted-in, including a double and the game's final hit.
The split puts the Dukes at 23-20 overall and 13-5 in Region 19 play with two remaining region games this weekend at Bergen CC. Cumberland currently sits at #5 in the current Region 19 standings.
