After giving up a 16 point lead late in the second half, Cumberland fought back and found a way to win in their season opener 68-66 at Prince George's Community College Friday night. Freshman Jodi Kelley led the way with 19 points on 5-7 shooting from three-point range. Kelley also had a team high 11 rebounds. Fellow freshmen Courtney Nock and Maryah Coleman got into the mix, adding 10 and 9 points respectively.
On Saturday, Cumberland cruised to a thirty point win over Anne Arundel Community College 87-54. The Freshman Kelley added five more buckets from downtown and Freshman Artaeja Loatman exploded for 26 points and 16 rebounds in the rout.
This is the way the Dukes wanted to start the season down in Maryland, 2-0. The Dukes will now come home for a big test on Wednesday November 6th against Division II junior college, Delaware Technicial and Community College-Stanton. The game will tip at 6PM.
