For the second straight year the Dukes fell short of a Region XIX Title, falling in the Championship game in consecutive years. Just two minutes into the game, the Jersey Blues suffered a huge blow when All-Conference selection Paxton Reddington left the game with an injury. Despite her absence, the Jersey Blues were able to withstand the blow and then some.
After the injury to Reddington, the Jersey Blues of Brookdale jumped out to 20-8 lead, before the Dukes closed the gap to six, but that's as close as Cumberland would get the rest of the way. It seemed like every time the Dukes were set to make a run, Brookdale had an answer right on que. A a result, the Jersey Blues celebrated their 71-54 Championship win on their home floor.
With the win, Brookdale swept the Region XIX Championship games with their men's team defeating Delaware County Community College 85-81 after trailing by as many as 18 points at one point in the contest. With Cumberland's season ending on a sour note, it's hard to put the year into perspective despite the Dukes ending the season with a 26-3 record. All three losses were at the hands of Brookdale.
