With teams all around the country at all levels of college basketball taking to the court during the holiday season, the Cumberland Women's Basketball Program joined in on the fun cruising to a 7-0 record with a 73-50 win over Mercer County Community College. Mercer, the host of the annual Mercer Mixer, struggled with a balanced offensive attack from the Dukes.
Sophomore Jasmine Miro led the team in scoring with 17 points on 6 of 11 shooting from the field, including five shots from downtown. Caroline Santiago and Sahara Lopez each added 15 apiece, and sophomore Jovan Childers rounded out the double-digit scorers, chipping in for 13. Santiago pulled down 11 rebounds to tally her fourth double-double of the 2014-15 season.
Up next, the Dukes will take on a familiar opponent, Delaware Technical and Community College - Stanton, on Saturday in their second and final game of the Mercer Mixer. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. Cumberland was able to fend off a late run from the Spirit and pulled away with a 69-60 win at Del. Tech. back on November 12th.
