Lady Dukes Rally Past Sussex, Coach Boney Reaches 100th Career Win

With a 64-52 victory over Sussex, Coach James picked up his 100th win as head coach. The Lady Dukes are now on a four game win streak and will try to make it five Tuesday night on the road against Ocean County College.

The last push was started by Sara Mazzeo who knocked down back to back three point buckets. After Sussex's head coach received technical foul, SyDonnie Dawkins sunk both shots from the line. Dawkins finished 6 of 8 from the line and recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team, as a whole, made five three-pointers out of seven. Mazzeo sunk four of the three-pointers, all of which came in the second half.  Destiny Esquilin recorded the other on her way to a 16-point afternoon.

With 4:45 left in the third quarter, the Lady Dukes took their first lead of the game, 34-33. The team rallied back from being down in the first half and scored 25 unanswered points throughout the second half to get the win.

As Coach said in a recent interview, he feels "humbled" about getting the big 100. Even though he was credited with the 100 wins, he gives the full credit to the players, both past and present, for his success. Saturday's win was an important one with playoff implications. The Dukes still have an outside shot at the Region 19 Playoffs if the team can win 3 of their last five games.  When asked about the playoffs, Coach said, "one day, one game at a time".
