Rowan College of South Jersey - Cumberland is proud to announce their new Director of Athletics, Jonathan "JD" Dijamco.
Dijamco, 32, held the position of Assistant Director of Athletics for the past two years in addition to his role as Baseball Recruiting Coordinator, which he has served in since the fall of 2013. A lifelong resident of Cumberland County, Dijamco became a member of the Dukes Family in the fall of 2012 when he joined his predecessor, Keith Gorman, on the Baseball Coaching Staff. Since that time, the Dukes were arguably the best baseball program in the country as Cumberland has the most wins among all NJCAA Division III Baseball programs in the country. That run led to the Dukes winning the program's and college's first ever National Championship this past June, defeating Rowan-Gloucester 11-7 in the final. Most importantly, since 2013, Cumberland has guided an exceptional number of student-athletes to graduate with an associate's degree from Cumberland, but a bachelor's degree from their following school as well.
"We've had some great student-athletes throughout the years, but I'm more proud of how many of them have become really successful students and incredible people." Dijamco continued, "The winning is fun, but seeing them succeed in the classroom and, ultimately, beyond their playing careers has been incredibly rewarding for me as well as the coaching staff, I'm sure." In January 2018, Dijamco took on the role of Assistant Director of Student Life & Athletics. Since that time, the Cumberland Dukes have experienced success in a number of sports and has brought upon excitement for all the athletics programs on the Vineland campus.
Jonathan was born in Pittsburgh, PA, but his family moved to Vineland shortly after. He attended St. Augustine Prep where he graduated in 2005 before heading to St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. At SJU, he was a member of the baseball team for two years before starting his coaching career as an undergraduate assistant for the Hawks. He would graduate in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. Dijamco has worked in the retail management and financial planning industries before finding his calling in education, returning to St. Augustine Prep as a administrative staff member prior to joining the Cumberland County College staff in 2018. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University.
"I am very excited to take on this role and help our coaches and students reach their goals," Dijamco said. "My family raised me to be a servant leader and I will do everything I can to serve our students."
Jonathan lives in Millville with his wife, Katie.
