Coming into the 2019 season with high expectations, Darrin Stalling and his squad are off to a perfect start. The Dukes tipped off the year with a home win verse the Manor College Blue Jays in a game they dominated in the first half, outscoring their opponent 41-25. The second half was back and forth between both teams, but the Dukes prevailed rather comfortably as they defeated Manor College 76-61. Phil Cisrow and Jonathan Thomas led the team in points with Cisrow scoring 16, and Thomas tacking on 15 of his own. Alfonso Smith recorded his first double-double of the season as he scored 12 points, and reeled in 11 rebounds.
The Dukes saw their first action on the road when they traveled to Paramus, NJ to take on the Bergen Community College Bulldogs. Just like the previous contest, the Dukes jumped out to a sizeable lead in the first half as they outscored the Bulldogs 46-32. Cumberland also outscored their opponent in the second half as they stayed perfect on the young season, and improved to 2-0 with the 88-73 win. Cisrow led the team in points for the second consecutive game with 22, and Max Cruz wasn't far behind as he tallied 21 in the game. Cisrow also recorded a double-double as he brought down 11 rebounds.
The Dukes will look to add their third win of the year when they host Bucks County Community College on Novemeber 14th, at 7PM in the Cunningham Center on the campus of RCSJ-Cumberland.
