Cumberland split a women's/men's double header against Salem Community College with the women pulling out a close 73-71 victory and the men falling in overtime 86-83. In the Women's game, Artaeja Loatman piled up 22 points and 16 rebounds and sophomore Kyra Lunsford poured in 21 points of her own.
In the second game, Cumberland rallied from a 8 point deficit at halftime early in the 2nd half and went blow for blow with Division II Salem throughout regulation. With a chance to win it, Cumberland threw away a pass that led to an intentional foul. Salem missed both free throws and then missed a chance to win, sending the game into overtime. Down 3 in OT, Hikeem Pruitt missed a layup, forcing Cumberland to foul. After a missed free throw attempt by Salem, a last three point attempt went off the side of the rim, and the Dukes fell 86-83. Zeke Shockley led all scored with 29 points.
The Dukes will host Passaic County Community College in home double header this Thursday January 16th. The women will play at 5pm and the men at 7pm.
