#4 Women Take Down #5 Brookdale, Men Fall Short

The #4 ranked Women's Basketball Program notched a big win Tuesday night, taking down the fifth ranked Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College.  Starting guards Jasmine Miro and Sahara Lopez each contributed 19 points on the night.  Lopez added 7 rebounds and 5 assists, and Miro recorded five steals.  Sophomore forward Caroline Santiago posted an impressive double-double, tallying 15 points and pulling down 18 boards on the way to the Dukes 9th win of the season.

In the Men's game, the Dukes fell short in a game that went back and forth between two good teams.  The Jersey Blues of Brookdale Community College just snuck by Cumberland by a final score of 93-91.  A desperate half-court heave from freshman Melvin Allen missed to the left as time expired.  Despite the lost, Allen posted yet another double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.  Sophomore Ezekiel Shockley scored 17 and Markevis Johnson added 19. Millville freshmen Khaliq Ford and Terron Mitchell added 13 points and 11 points respectively.

The men will look to get back on track and the women hope to keep rolling this Thursday when Cumberland hosts Atlantic Cape Community College in a doubleheader.  The games will start at 5PM and 7PM.
