Track performs well at NJCAA Nationals
UTICA - The Dukes Track & Field's second straight trip to the NJCAA National was a stepping stone for the program as they took the success from last year's performances and built upon it.
On the Mens side, the 4x100 team of Carlos Melendez, Ira Goldsborough, Quajon Kinsey, and Marvin Homar turned in a Top 20 finish. The 4x400 team of Homar, Kinsey, Matt Tozer, and Vincent Bosco finished in the Top 15 of the event.
Tozer also competed in the 1500m event and placed 10th overall with a time of 4.38.50. Melendez entered the vaunted 100m event and placed 14th overall with a time of 11.39. He would also go on to compete in the 200m events and place 17th with a time of 23.09.
Quajon Kinsey just missed the finals in the 110m Hurdles as he placed 9th overall with a time of 16.84 missing the mark by .2 seconds. Rodrigo Gonzalez participated in the Javelin and placed in the top 20.
Summer Nasatka participated in all throwing events for the Dukes. She placed in the top 20 for the shotput and top 15 in the discus. Nasatka would then place 4th overall in the Javelin, good enough to earn All-America status. She was also an All-American soccer player for the Dukes as she earned All-America status in both season she competed for the Dukes.
