Softball sweeps Bergen in grand fashion
PARAMUS - It was a big day for Dukes Softball as they traveled to Paramus for a doubleheader against the pesky Bergen Bulldogs.
In Game 1, the Dukes scored eight runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat Bergen Bulldogs 15-5. Kylie Gonzalez drew a walk, scoring one run, Mary Del Re was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Kylie Tomlin doubled, scoring three runs. Bergen then induced Mimi Acevedo to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Sky Oyola grounded out, scoring two runs. RCSJ-Cumberland got on the board in the top of the first inning after Rodriguez hit a sacrifice fly, and Sbrana singled to left field, each scoring one run. The Dukes then added three runs in the third.
Tomlin provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Dukes with three runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Sbrana, Rodriguez, Tomlin, and Gabby De La Rosa each collected one hit for RCSJ-Cumberland. The Dukes had patience at the plate, collecting nine walks for the game. Rodriguez and Tomlin led the team with two walks each. Oyola and Del Re each stole multiple bases for RCSJ-Cumberland. The Dukes stole 11 bases in the game.
