Ava Rodriguez leads Dukes past Middlesex, 14-13
VINELAND - RCSJ-Cumberland Softball took Tuesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 14-13 walk-off victory over Middlesex College Colts. The game was tied at 13 in the bottom of the seventh when Gabby De La Rosa singled, scoring one run.
Ava Rodriguez drove in five runners in the win. The first baseman went 4-5 on the day.
Middlesex College Colts jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Gianna was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Sarah grounded out, scoring two runs, and Marina singled, scoring one run. The DUkes flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring six runs on seven hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Rodriguez that drove in two. The game would go back and forth before the Dukes tied the game in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a walk by Mimi Acevedo, and a passed ball. After giving up a run in the top of the 7th to trail 13-12 in the bottom of the seventh the Dukes closed it out with a pair of singles by Rodriguez and the dramatic walk off hit by De La Rosa.
Acevedo earned the win for RCSJ-Cumberland Softball 2026. The starter allowed 11 hits and 13 runs (seven earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking nine.
RCSJ-Cumberland Softball 2026 accumulated 16 hits in the game. Cayla Sbrana, Monica Bishop-Jarmon, Kylie Gonzalez, and De La Rosa each collected multiple hits for RCSJ-Cumberland Softball 2026. Mary Del Re led RCSJ-Cumberland Softball 2026 with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting five walks for the game. RCSJ-Cumberland Softball 2026 ran wild on the base paths, amassing three stolen bases for the game.
