The Wait is Over

The Wait is Over

The wait is over.  The anticipation amongst the coaching staff and the athletes is at an all-time high and will finally start to subside with the first pitch tonight.

The Dukes arrived in Tyler on Thursday afternoon.  Taking part in a Little League clinic at the host site on Thursday Night, it quickly became apparent that this would not be an ordinary tournament.

The entire community of Tyler is involved and the buzz around the World Series is building.  On the way to the opening banquet Friday Night, a local radio station was previewing the national tournament about to take place.  The majority of the talk was about the the junior college playing on their home field, Tyler Junior College.

The Apaches of Tyler are currently the #2 ranked team in the country, just behind Cumberland who is entering the tournament atop the polls.  With that said, the polls will mean nothing when the 8 teams take the field throughout day one of the World Series.

The two teams may be on a collision course to meet in the winner's bracket final Monday night, but each team must take care of business in their first two games to set that stage. That's why they play the games.

In the opening round, Cumberland will take the field at 7PM (CDT) v. Waubonsee Community College, who is considered the home team, decided in a coin toss at the banquet Friday night. Follow the action live with NJCAA TV for full coverage of the Division III Baseball World Series.
