Baseball holds Top 10 National Ranking
VINELAND - Despite a pair of setbacks against Ocean County and Montgomery County, the RCSJ-Cumberland Dukes remain in the top 10 of the NJCAA National Polls. The April 6 poll has the Dukes ranked 8th in NJCAA D3 after reaching the 6th spot last week.
In the lone Dukes victory last week, Cumberland avenged a 10-6 loss to Montgomery on Friday, April 3 with a convincing 7-1 victory over the Mustangs Saturday afternoon. Game 2 of the doubleheader was postponed due to rain.
In the Game 1 victory, the star was pitcher Ryan Beebe. Beebe navigated his way through a difficult Mustang lineup giving up only 4 hits, an unearned run, while striking out 6 hitters. The Mustangs scored 10 or more runs in their last 7 games prior to facing Beebe. Offensively, the Dukes were led by Kory Jenkins (2 for 4, 2 doubles, 3 runs, 1 RBI) and Zach Braig (2 for 4, 2 RBIs).
