Dukes sweep Union in big way
VINELAND - The RCSJ-Cumberland Baseball team continues their fantastic April with a conference sweep over Union College of NJ.
UCNJ Game 1
The Dukes owned the middle innings of the matchup against the Owls. Heading into the 4th inning, the Dukes held a 4-2 lead, before breaking out with 8 runs between the 4th and 6th innings highlighted by back to back home runs by Tyler Bunting and Tyler Schoppe. Brinden Floyd delivered in a big way with a 3-run home run in the top of the 4th. He would finish a single shy of the cycle as he doubled in the 5th inning and tallied an RBI triple in the 7th inning to lead the Dukes to a 19-8 victory. Dmitri Santiago earned the win on the mound for the Dukes as he went 5 innings, scattered 4 hits and struck out 5 batters.
UCNJ Game 2
Game 2 got off to a rocky start for the Dukes as they trailed 5-1 heading to the bottom of the 2nd. Cumberland would explode for 13 runs in the inning to put the game out of reach early. Ty Powell and Tyler Bunting would lead the Dukes, each notching 3 hits and 4 RBIs. The Dukes would go on to win 20-10. Aiden Milligan earned the win on the mound going 2 2/3 innings while striking out 2.
