Baseball maintaining pace in Region 19 Play.
VINELAND - After a torrid start, Dukes Baseball is in the midst of the gauntlet that is the Region XIX Baseball schedule. The Dukes were one of the hottest teams in NJCAA Division III Baseball, reaching the No. 6 ranking in NJCAA polls heading into April. Facing them were a pair of matchups against RCSJ-Gloucester with series against Northampton, upstart Montgomery Co., Middlesex, and Camden - all historically strong programs.
In classic R19 fashion, the Dukes split their matchup against Gloucester and split a pair of games with Montgomery. They would only take 1 out of 3 in a pair of hotly contested series against Northampton and Middlesex with extremely slim run differentials. Dukes take on Camden for their midweek R19 series April 21 and 22.
Ryan Beebe has been the star on the mound of the Dukes as he earned two complete game victories of Northampton and Montgomery. He would pitch masterfully in a relief role in the 8-3 victory over RCSJ-Gloucester.
Offensively, Kory Jenkins, Zach Braig, and Cole Shover have led the way. Jenkins is batting .416 with 5 HRs and 42 RBIs while Braig sports a .389 average and a 1.032 OPS. Shover has been steady once again for the Dukes batting .374 while stealing 18 bases.
