Baseball finds its stride, eyes postseason run
VINELAND - Dukes Baseball finds itself in familiar territory as they finished their season on an 11 game winning streak that included conference sweeps over Camden, Union, and Bergen.
RCSJ-Cumberland worked its way through their toughest stretch of the schedule and came out in a similar place within the top 3 of the Region XIX standings.
Pitching has been key for the Dukes as Lucas D'Agostino, Ryan Beebe, Otley Makosky, and Connor Stratton have spearheaded the effort on the mound. The Dukes have sured up their defense with Christian Willis now patrolling left field alongside regulars Kory Jenkins and Angel Rodriguez. In the infield, Vincent Bognanni has become a regular at third base with Chase Montgomery, Cole Shover, and Andre Martinez and D'Agostino splitting time at first base.
Offensively, the effort has been spread up and down the lineup with Zach Braig at the top of the lineup. Shover has returned to form in recent weeks as he has steadily increased his average while reaching the 100 hit plateau. Jenkins also reached the 100 hit plateau in the final game of the season against Bergen.
Look for the Dukes to continue their push as they hope to return to the NJCAA World Series for the first time since 2019.
