VINELAND - Unlucky bounces have become the theme for Dukes Mens Soccer as a pair of two-goal losses to open the season have come on a mixture of odd situations. On Tuesday, September 2, the Dukes found themselves down 2-0 once again, this time to perennial contender, the Middlesex College Blue Colts.
That was until Allan Lopez made a dazzling run and was fed a nice through ball by Brayden Birnstiel. Lopez then shuffled the ball over to Batuhan Onal who finished the play for his first goal of the season to bring the score to 2-1. Then with just over a minute of play left in the match, Jesiah Cruz took an errant pass outside of the Dukes 18-yard box and made a fantastic solo run that ended with Cruz sliding the ball past the Middlesex goalkeeper to bring the teams level at 2.
A fantastic effort once again by Shane Graham in net who made key save after key save to keep the Colts goal total at 2. He finished with 17 saves on 19 shots.
